The Weekend Neos Kosmos : 10 October 2015
WHAT’S ON 22 THE WEEKEND NEOS KOSMOS | SATURDAY 10 OCTOBER 2015 Community Guide ‘Fragments of Florence’ VICTORIA Melbourne-based artist Troy Argyros is set to showcase his latest collection of art in an exhibition entitled 'Fragments of Florence'. Taking place at the Lobby Gallery of Melbourne's Sofitel On Collins, art enthusiasts will have the chance to view this collection of small pictures inspired by a recent trip to the art capital of Florence. Troy's work is very personal and draws on past experiences. Known for his appreciation of the senses, he endeavours to recreate smell and texture through his work, and by doing so successfully taps into memory, evoking feelings of nostalgia. Inspired by the work of great painters of a bygone era, Troy's oil paintings are created using the most traditional art form. A graduate of Fine Arts in Painting from Monash University, the artist is also known for his recent entry into the prestigious Archibald Prize, whose subject was actor and singer Maria Mercedes.
