We were married in Chania, Crete on 30 August 2015. The ceremony took place in a beautiful little village called Gavalohori, which is where George's father is from. n How How many guests were there? There were 130 guests. It was a true blessing to have so many of our close friends and family all come together in such an amazing part of the world. Why did you choose to get married there? The funny thing is, we didn't even think twice about it. We both have a very special relationship with Greece - there is so much rich history, charm, the weather is perfect, the food is a sure thing and there is just something about the atmosphere in Greece that can't be replicated anywhere else in the world. We knew we wanted to go to Greece this year, so the stars aligned. How did you and your husband meet? We met about eight years ago through my cousin, who was the best man at our wedding. How long did it take you to prepare for the wedding? About 10 months all up so we had to think pretty quickly to plan it by the 2015 European summer. There was defi nitely a lot to consider, and planning from the other side of the world isn't the easiest thing we've ever done but it was defi nitely worth watching it all unfold on the day. A signifi cant amount of research went into it, many photos sent and received, countless emails and phone calls exchanged back and forth with everyone involved. Is there a funny/memorable moment from your wedding day? There are so many! Nothing can top the feeling you get when you fi rst see each other on the day. Being handed over by my father and mother, and seeing George’s face as I walked around the corner, I will never forget that feeling. Nothing else matters in that moment, surrounded by everyone you love and & the person who you are about to spend the rest of your life with; it makes me smile just thinking about it. Being walked by friends and family through the village to the ceremony while being led by a traditional Cretan band comes a close second though - it felt like The Godfather! hh b Did the wedding meet your expectations, was it what you had dreamed of? It was crazy perfect. Our friends and family had an absolute ball, which was so important to us. Juggling preparations with celebrations in the weeks leading up was defi nitely an adventure. Considering everything, we were surprisingly relaxed and just enjoyed the journey. I guess it helps being on holiday! Any advice to future brides? Defi nitely do your research. If you are planning to get married overseas, read up on venues, food and music reviews from locals and don't be afraid to ask around for advice. Work out your 'nonnegotiables'; what each bride and groom considers important is unique, no matter how large or intimate the guest list is.
