The Weekend Neos Kosmos : 6 February 2016
DIGITAL.NEOSKOSMOS.COM THE WEEKEND NEOS KOSMOS | SATURDAY 6 FEBRUARY 2016 23 OPINION LETTERS Send your children to Greek school When I attended ‘Greek’ school we had a teacher ‘off the boat’. No qualifications. No manners. Just a violent character who delighted in hitting us and in being heavily biased towards the kids born in the Hellenic Republic (Hellas). My wife suffered from a similar so-called teacher, who went further by hitting kids in the head with a ruler. But when we sent our three children, all young adults today, their teachers were fully qualified. The teachers at Ariston, lead by the amazing Helen Kalamboukas, made learning the Hellenic language enjoyable, just as my wife's uncle and aunt Vlassis and Nelly Mavraganis do with their Greek schools - learning the language, culture, dance and even theatrical events/ plays. Thank you most sincerely everyone involved. But with all that aside comes my anger. With the racists who deliberately damaged the after-hours Victorian Government School of Languages with either nothing for junior students or just drawing, as was the case for years. With the schools who went out of their way to kill Modern Greek language classes. We stopped that at Strathmore Secondary but that school remains the only secondary college in the area to offer such classes, with every other school killing the classes outright. I am also less than impressed with those readers who have always found excuses not to send their children to learn that which often their grandparents spoke only. ‘Oh, my son has soccer, my daughter has horse riding.’ Seriously, I have heard those excuses and worse. Just as at one school Greeks were involved in trying to kill Greek language education. My friends, our language opens the door to heritage. To culture. To art, music and greater literacy. Two of my children have been to Hellas and loved it. They realise that learning the Hellenic language can only help a person to grow. Ange Kenos Victoria The Hellenic national religion A clarification regarding us the Hellenes of the Hellenic national religion and honour. Many Greeks look at us with some suspicion and hostility. I think it is time that we, the Ethnikoi Greeks, clarified a few things. First of all, we interpret and express that the ancient Jews invented, manufactured and created the Jewish religion and all its religious scriptures (the Bible, etc.), later on the foundation of Judaism, the first followers of Jesus who were Jews, the Apostles and the church fathers etc., invented, manufactured and created the Christian religion. This is why we say Christianity is a Jewish cult religion, and their religious scriptures do not express the word of the divine. In Greece and all around the world the Orthodox Christian Church teaches us Greeks and our children all about the ancient Jews, their history and ‘culture’ etc.. The Church with its foreign Christian religion teaches us to celebrate Jewish events, and to celebrate and revere Jewish biblical heroes. We are obliged to celebrate foreign saints, many of whom were the torturers and murderers and killers of our Greek ancestors. We are brainwashed to be- lieve that our spiritual forefathers and ancestors are Jews, such as Abraham and many others. From another perspective we have the first religious cousins of the Jews, the Jehovah's Witnesses, who believe absolutely in the Old Testament and the New Testament with their own interpretation. They believe that God punished the people when they built the so-called tower of Babel, that he cursed them to speak with different languages so that they could not communicate with one another so they could not finish the tower. (Orthodox Christians also believe the Tower of Babel story, as they too revere the Old Testament as one of their holy books.) Jehovah's Witnesses be- lieve that all people should unite and become one. They do not believe in separate countries and nationalities. They do not believe in diversity and that all people should speak one language. On the other hand, we Ethnikoi Greeks believe that our forefathers and ancestors invented and created with their spiritual and intellectual awakening the Hellenic national religion and the Hellenic civilisation. With the Hellenic national religion we learn and we teach our children the Hellenic conceptions of the Di- vine, the Hellenic worldview ‘Kosmotheasi. We teach our children the Hellenic history, Hellenic culture and Greek philosophy. We celebrate the teachings of the Hellenic national religion. We learn and we teach our children all about our own forefathers and ancestors. We celebrate significant ancient Hellenic events and celebrate and revere our own major heroes and ancestors who contributed to the Hellenic civilization, the Hellenic nation and all mankind. Our own spiritual forefathers and ancestors are many, including our ancient philosophers, who we regard as the fathers of the Hellenic nation. We, our members, and our children are taught to love Greece and Hellenism. Our Hellenic national religion promotes pride for our Hellenic identity and Greek language. We say to Jehovah's Witnesses that all languages are a gift from the Divine, our racial and ethnic diversity with much love is a gift from the Divine. Diversity is a great gift from the Divine. We Ethnikoi Greeks believe it is our duty to protect and preserve our languages, our identities and cultures. And we also firmly believe that we must protect and preserve the diversity of all humanity. After all, this is our very important spiritual interpretation of the will of the Divine. We need to guard our people, our culture, our Hellenic identity, our existence as a Hellenic people and our Hellenic language. We can only achieve this goal with the re-Hellenisation (Epanellinisi) of our people. To return to our roots, to a Hellenic way of thinking and a Hellenic lifestyle, with our own Greek civilization. We say: • It is the right of everyone to believe in a religion of their choice, however, we consider it our duty to struggle for the good of Hellenism with our religious interpretation. • Despite the fact that the Greek state denies us our human rights and discriminates against us, and does not give our religion and religious organisations legal recognition and status, etc. • The Church expresses vulgar attacks against us almost on a daily basis. • The education ministry is against us, our religion and also discriminates against us. • The ‘mass media’ does not give us the opportunity to promote our religion or to protect ourselves from attack by sections of the media. • We vow to continue our struggle with courage and dignity. You know, the nation that so many errantly call Greece. Their nastiness over the debt and their abject failure to help prosecute German and other companies that have paid NO tax in Hellas, their heavy-handed demands that have caused starvation to become a nightmare reality, and now refugees. The thugs of Europe are putting up fences to stop refugees leaving Hellas - you know, the same sort of high fences that Hellas sought to build a few years ago but were ordered and threatened not to do so. Some have openly admitted that Hellas should bear all the burden of refugees, and with those who were already there that means well over two million people in Hellas whom we would identify as being refugees. Costing the Hellenic economy hundreds of millions every year. Damaging tourism. Depleting local communities of their own scarce resources. When Hellas first raised the issue of refugees, it was not a problem as it was only a problem for the Republic. But once the refugees hit France, Germany etc, well, the thugs of Europe became upset. In the meantime, Turkey manufactures crappy life jackets and openly sells them and weak rubber boats to refugees. People smugglers operate in Turkey with immunity. And yet the EU is giving Turkey millions. Clearly the EU, EC and IMF do NOT want Hellas to survive. Remember that on Independence Day in March.
